The benefits of reviewing our narratives

When I started working on my life project, I had not an inkling of an idea of what shape it would take or what value that I'd extract at a personal level. I always loved reading stories more than once, each new review broadened my perspectives, but for most of my life, this was merely a source of entertainment. Then came the huge turning point in my life six years ago, and that changed forever because I slowly realized that there were important connections between the fictions that I'd explored so much and the tangible events in my life. At that moment I wasn't conscious of the illusory nature of material reality and the concept alone caused me anxiety as it happens to everyone else because, if all of this is an illusion, does life have a meaning? As I went deeper into this task, however, the very understanding of my Purpose gave me another perspective: physical reality is illusory, yes, but our essence goes beyond those limitations, our soul merely assumes characters through which it can interact with the world.

I went from existential anxiety to the excitement of being able to see the world like those stories that I loved so much. I noticed that there was a great attunement between the events told in literary works, films, videogames and TV shows, and the situations in my life and others around me. The great catalyst for these revelations was my country, Venezuela, whose process I saw reflected in all manner of sources, which inspired me to work at other levels and showed me the true reach of narrative coherences. I dedicated myself to translating my daily context, my thoughts, memories, emotions and past and present actions to a growing variety of references, so that I found extremely valuable information about my life and my nations in historical events, myths, legends, roleplaying games or stories such as Harry Potter, Game of Thrones or The Lord of the Rings. Later I arrived to HBO's Westworld and from it I extracted very useful data about the layered construction of all narratives, including my experiences, and my understanding expanded considerably. The Runes, Tarot and Astrology, as well as mystical traditions such as Kabbalah and Hermeticism, have also been crucial instruments for this path. My fascination for each confirmation that I obtained was such that I wanted to share it with everyone, but I soon realized that nobody was interested with that, so aside from this articles, I rarely elaborate about this topic.

Currently, I don't need much effort to see connections and patterns everywhere around me, it's totally intuitive and natural for me. Among the benefits that this has brought me I can highlight greater consistency between my outward and inner worlds which allows me to quickly discern the relationship between a decision and its consequence, even when they're separated by weeks, months or years; at the same time, my capacity to manifest what I seek has increased dramatically along with my empathy for others, for I understand that their conduct and principles are also products of their personal and ancestral story. I've also developed a certain skill to predict events thanks to the identification of narrative iterations in me and my surroundings. Nothing's casual and there are no accidents, this tale that we materialize at every second and that we tell each other, is as exact as any clock and can be analyzed scientifically through trial and error.

If you're interested in having access to this tool, try the following: separate yourselves from what you're living, seek to see it as strangers, take distance as the eyes must take distance from the pages of a book or the pixels of a screen. Review your week, perhaps the last three or five days, with as much neutrality as possible. Any story that you've watched or read, musical piece you've heard, conversation you've had or activity you've carried out is relevant. If you need to, write down your observations. This may take some practice especially in the area of judgment, but the patterns between past and current events will doubtlessly be quite clear eventually and you'll be able to see the advantages of this discipline.

Los beneficios de revisar nuestras narrativas

Cuando comencé a trabajar en mi proyecto de vida, no tenía ni la más mínima idea de qué forma iba a tomar ni qué valor habría de extraer a nivel personal. Siempre amé leer historias más de una vez, cada nueva revisión ampliaba mi perspectivas, pero por la mayor parte de mi vida, ésta solo era una fuente de entretenimiento. Luego del gran viraje que mi vida dio hace seis años, eso cambió para siempre pues me fui dando cuenta de que habían conexiones importantes entre las ficciones que tanto había explorado y eventos tangibles de mi vida. En ese momento aún no estaba consciente de la naturaleza ilusoria de la realidad material y el solo concepto me generaba ansiedad como a todo el mundo pues, si todo ésto es una ilusión ¿Tiene la vida un sentido? A medida que fui profundizando en esta tarea, no obstante, la misma comprensión de mi Propósito me fue abriendo otra perspectiva: la realidad física es ilusoria, sí, pero nuestra esencia está más allá de esos límites, nuestra alma tan solo asume personajes a través de los cuales puede interactuar con el mundo.

De la ansiedad existencial pasé a la emoción de poder ver el mundo como esas historias que tanto amaba. Noté que había una gran sintonía entre los hechos relatados en obras literarias, películas, videojuegos y series, y situaciones de mi vida y la de otros a mi alrededor. El gran catalizador para estas revelaciones fue mi país, Venezuela, cuyo proceso vi reflejado en todo tipo de fuentes, lo cual me inspiró a trabajar a otros niveles y me fue mostrando el alcance verdadero de las coherencias narrativas. Me aboqué a traducir mi contexto diario, mis pensamientos, memorias, emociones y acciones pasadas y presentes a una creciente variedad de referencias, de tal forma que encontré valiosísima información sobre mi vida y mi nación en hechos históricos, mitos, leyendas, juegos de rol o historias como Harry Potter, Juego de Tronos y El Señor de los Anillos. Más adelante llegué a Westworld de HBO y de ella extraje datos muy útiles sobre la construcción por capas de todas las narrativas, incluyendo mis vivencias, y mi comprensión se expandió muchísimo más. Las Runas, el Tarot y la Astrología, así como tradiciones místicas como la Kabbalah y el Hermetismo, han sido también instrumentos cruciales para este camino. Mi fascinación por cada confirmación que obtenía era tal que quería compartirla con todo el mundo, pero pronto me di cuenta de que nadie estaba en esa onda, así que aparte de estos artículos, rara vez elaboro sobre este tema.

Actualmente, no me toma mucho esfuerzo ver conexiones y patrones en todo a mi alrededor, es algo totalmente intuitivo y natural para mí. Entre los beneficios que ésto me ha traído puedo señalar mayor consistencia entre mi mundo externo e interno que me permite discernir rápidamente la relación entre una decisión y su consecuencia, incluso estando separadas por semanas, meses o años; al mismo tiempo, mi capacidad para manifestar lo que busco se ha incrementado enormemente, así como mi empatía por otros pues entiendo que su conducta y principios también son producto de su historia personal y ancestral. He desarrollado además cierta habilidad para predecir eventos gracias a la identificación de iteraciones narrativas en mí y en el entorno. Nada es casual y no existen los accidentes, este cuento que materializamos a cada segundo y nos relatamos los unos a los otros, es tan exacto como cualquier reloj y puede analizarse científicamente mediante ensayo y error.

Si les interesa tener acceso a esta herramienta, intenten lo siguiente: sepárense de lo que estén viviendo, busquen verlo como extraños, tomen distancia como los ojos deben tomar distancia de las páginas de un libro o de los píxeles de una pantalla. Revisen su semana, quizás los últimos tres o cinco días, con tanta neutralidad como les sea posible. Toda historia que hayan visto, pieza musical que hayan escuchado, conversación que hayan tenido o actividad que hayan realizado es relevante. Si los necesitan, anoten sus observaciones. Puede que les lleve algo de práctica sobre todo en el área del juicio, pero sin duda los patrones entre sucesos pasados y actuales saltarán a la vista eventualmente y podrán ver las ventajas de esta disciplina.
