When the dots connect

Five years ago I attended a guided meditation with rapé, a mixture of powdered tobacco and aromatic herbs, just a week after my first Ayahuasca ceremony and in the home of its organizers. Upon arriving to the place, a cul-de-sac in Los Teques, to the southwest from Caracas, I saw a vulture that couldn't fly due to a wound in one of its wings and had been abandoned by its flock, so it was walking around in the street. At the start of the meditation I was asked to visualize and call upon a spiritual guide who would accompany me throughout the process and presented himself as a smiling native dressed in a brightly white tunic. At times, he also adopted the shape of a vulture, a hawk and he alternated between the three shapes or mixed them. Then I had a pretty complex and detailed vision, a part of which I want to highlight here: I saw many horses running in the subway of Caracas and then the Ávila, the mountain to the north of the city, descended into the streets as a wave of mist and water in the shape of horses. In one of the avenues I met a horse whose coat was the color of steel waiting for me, I mounted it and then joined my guide and all of my ancestors on their own mounts for a ride of cleansing through the city, the country and the world.

In the latest ceremony I attended, I met a man who owns horses and expressed interest in training horseback archery. I put him in touch with my fencing teacher, who practices archery from a very early age and had been looking for years for a way to also shoot from horseback, and ultimately we agreed upon a visit to some stables to the south of the city that took place last Saturday. On our way to the place we saw a hawk fly toward a tree and when we arrived, other two signs jumped to my eyes: several vultures were perched on a tree near the entrance and a bit farther in, there was a truck's carcass with the words "Steel Horse" written in paint on one side. All of these consistencies were of course significant and even more so when I learned that the gorgeous mare we'd ride on is called Lluvia ("Rain", the one in the picture). In addition to explaining the basic rules when riding, the owner gave me various recommendations for beginners, such as handling anxiety and stuff, but they were honestly unnecessary: I felt as if I had been riding my whole life, it was a completely natural and pleasurable experience.

You can corroborate the level of coherence between what I saw at the start of my spiritual work and what I just lived, and that's only a minimal part of all the interconnected signs that have been shown to me over the years. This happens to us every day, but can only be exposed when we keep our attention active. That's how I study the Narrative and it's an enormously useful tool in all areas of my life.

Cuando los puntos se conectan

Hace cinco años asistí a una meditación guiada con rapé, un preparado de tabaco pulverizado y hierbas aromáticas, apenas una semana después de mi primera ceremonia de Ayahuasca y en casa de sus organizadores. Al llegar al lugar, una calle ciega en Los Teques, al sur-oeste de Caracas, vi un zamuro que no podía volar por una herida en una de sus alas y había sido abandonado por su bandada, así que caminaba por la calle. Al comenzar la meditación se me pidió que visualizase y llamase a un guía espiritual, quien me acompañaría durante todo el proceso y que se me presentó como un indígena sonriente y vestido con una túnica rutilantemente blanca. Por momentos adoptaba también la forma de un zamuro, un halcón y alternaba entre las tres formas o las mezclaba. Luego tuve una visión bastante compleja y detallada, de la cual quiero resaltar una parte: vi muchos caballos galopando en el subterráneo de Caracas y luego el Ávila, la montaña al norte de la ciudad, descendió a las calles en una ola de niebla y agua en forma de caballos. En una de las avenidas me conseguí a un caballo con el pelaje del color del acero esperándome, lo monté y luego me reuní con mi guía y con todos mis ancestros en sus propias monturas para una cabalgata de limpieza por la ciudad, el país y el mundo.

En la última ceremonia a la que asistí, conocí a un hombre que tiene caballos y mostró interés en entrenar arquería montada. Lo puse en contacto con mi maestro de esgrima, quien practica arquería desde muy joven y estuvo por años buscando la forma de practicar también con caballos, y finalmente acordamos una visita a unos establos al sur de la ciudad que se verificó el pasado sábado. En el camino hacia el lugar vimos a un halcón volar hacia un árbol y cuando llegamos, otras dos señales saltaron a mi vista: en un árbol cerca de la entrada estaban posados varios zamuros y un poco más adelante, había una carcasa de un camión con las palabras "Steel Horse" escritas en pintura a un lado. Todas estas consistencias fueron por supuesto significativas y aún más cuando supe que la hermosa yegua en la que nos montaríamos se llama Lluvia (la de la foto). Además de explicar las reglas básicas para montar, el dueño me dio varias recomendaciones para principiantes, como el manejo de la ansiedad y demás, pero sinceramente no fueron necesarias: sentí como si hubiese montado toda mi vida, fue una experiencia totalmente natural y placentera.

Pueden corroborar el nivel de coherencia entre lo que vi al principio de mi trabajo espiritual y lo que acabo de vivir, y esa es solo una mínima parte de todas las señales interconectadas que se me han presentado durante los años. Esto nos sucede a todos diariamente, pero sólo queda expuesto cuando mantenemos nuestra atención activa. Así es como estudio la Narrativa y es una herramienta de enorme utilidad en todas las áreas de mi vida.
